After attending the London Concours show in London on Thursday, Saturday was a more grass roots affair with the B Road Hunting cafe holding the Mini day at there venue in Collier Street, between Maidstone and Tonbridge...

There were around 150 Minis that attended the event, the majority being the modern BMW group type which was fine for me as I was covering the event for Performance Mini which caters for the newer Mini's. You forget that in that time the car has come in many guises, the regular three door hatch, estate, countryman, cabriolet, paceman and now the Electric version. I mention the recent addition as Barrett's Mini Canterbury kindly lent me there Level 3 Cooper S, the demo has only just been registered and for most people attending the B Road event it was the first time they had seen the latest model in the line up. With a 140 mile range I felt comfortable doing the 80 mile round trip, of course the range is determined on the journey, use of air con, stereo etc so to return with 16 miles left was pretty good. The cars comfy and relating to to a regular Cooper S performance wise it felt similar, just miss that gear change and the sound of the exhaust popping and banging.

The day was a real success for proprietors Edd and Roger who opened the cafe in early August and this was the first big event they had put on, both Mini owners themselves it seemed logical that they would get bleh word out to there followers on social media and a mix of car clubs. I saw some familiar faces and cars, including Dan For and his retro mod "Gonzo" one of the most familiar faces on the Mini scene. I also met good friend Aaron Singh who has just purchased a GP3, we'll be doing a twin shoot with this track focused car and a standard GP3 very soon. If your in the area pop in and see the guys at B Road, great coffee and a relaxed and informal setting to grab some lunch from Tuesday to Saturday, plus what they don't know about Mini's isn't worth knowing!
