HYUNDAI i30N CAR PHOTOGRAPHY KENT

Hyundai's credentials in the performance brand market are all of a sudden being taken seriously, Albert Biermann is heading up the N division brand and his previous employer BMW was where he headed up the M division for twenty years, easily the most respected performance brand of any motor company out there.
I had the i30N for a few hours and covered a variety of town, country road and A roads, after spending a weekend in the VW Golf R last week it was a good comparison. The Hyundai has the feel of the most respected hot hatch car in the World but still a character of its own, from its 2 litre engine it produces 271bhp and 260ib ft of torque, you can have an extra 19ib ft of torque for 20 seconds as well. Performance Blue is the hero colour for this car, and with the bright sunshine it stands out as the rest of the car is very subtle in its design. The car has a very sweet and precise 6 speed manual gear box, Brembo brakes limited slip differential and adaptive dampers as well, perfect for the UK roads.
The spec on this car isn't missing anything, large 8" screen sat nav, electric seats, keyless entry, Apple car play plus all the extras you would expect for £28,000. That price represents a saving over a less specced VW GTI, Civic Type R etc. The car has a real fluidity to it and with the adaptive dampers make it a real complaint ride, switch on to the aggressive track inspired N mode and it unleashes a more urgent throttle response, tighter steering and a firm but race inspired suspension set up.
The location for the i30N car photography was a mix of rural settings and the newly opened Independent Pedaler, a coffee shaper/cafe situated on Highland Court Farm in Bridge, just a few miles outside Canterbury, Kent. Although the sun was out, on lighter coloured cars it can tend to make the lighter colours lose their true colour, using the Profoto lighting (B1 & B2) allows me to underexpose for the car and use the lighting to highlight the alloys, and outline of the car.
