Range Rovers Velar model sits between the Evoque and Sport models starting from £45,000 and is a blend of style, prestige and pure luxury, especially with the HSE model I had from Canterbury Land Rover. The specification was endless, panoramic roof, lane departure, heads up display, TFT screen, Windsor leather seats etc. This really is a great place to be, the ride is superb and when switched to dynamic mode it turns the car in to a sports wagon, faster gear shifts and a firmer suspension set up really makes the Velar one of the best SUV's I've driven. The 240bhp diesel ingenium Diesel engine is smooth, refined bad has plenty of torque to pull 2.5 tonne car through its paces.
The Velar spent some time at the Classic Cars on the Green in Bearsted on Sunday, it received a lot of interest and admiring glances, which is a credit to the styling as it was next to a 1928 Le Mans Bentley! One person thought it was a prototype as mentioned previously the car had only been previewed earlier this year. There are plenty of clever touches on the car, including the door handles that slide in flush to improve the looks and aerodynamics of the Velar. I photographed the car around various locations, Cobham and Rochester golf course, the green at Bearsted and some opportune backdrops around East Kent. The prime 50mm lens and 14-24mm wide zoom covered the car photography, with a mix of cloud cover and sunshine the bright silver paintwork stood out well against the atmospheric skies.
