ASTON MARTIN DB5 CLASSIC CAR PHOTOGRAPHY

Aston Martin's DB5 is a British luxury grand tourer that was made by Aston Martin and designed by the Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera. Released in 1963, it was an evolution of the final series of DB4. The DB series was named honouring Sir David Brown (the owner of Aston Martin from 1947 to 1972). Although not the first in the DB series, the DB5 is famous for being the most recognised cinematic James Bond car, first appearing in the James Bond film Goldfinger.
Today I was photographing the car for Brooklands Motor Company who had beautifully restored this one owner car, with the keys in my hand I had not just one of the greatest cars ever made but also the backdrop of Brooklands as my backdrop. This was also my first time using the Profoto B2, recently acquired it gives me a great addition to the powerful B1 500 watt flash unit (the B2 is 250 watts, so a great fill in light). I used the 70-200mm and 50mm lenses to cover interior and exteriors of the Aston.
I have used the Aston Martin for car photography courses at Brooklands Museum in the past and to have a few hours with the car was a delight, plus to drive it as well was an even bigger bonus. On an overcast day the Profoto lighting gave an extra depth to the overall images, whether they were images of the whole car or interior details.
